Tell u a little about yourself:
My name is Willabelle Ong and I am a 16 year old girl studying in Perth, Australia although I was born in Singapore and have lived there for fourteen years. The shift from different countries has been useful in exposing me to various cultures and fashion scenes. I am also a full-time high-school student in which I have to organise my schedules and plans carefully so I have a fair bit of time set aside for blogging.
Who influences your personal style and how would you describe your style:
There isn’t a particular fashion icon that I look up to but a couple of my favorites are Alexa Chung, Tao Okamoto and Agyness Deyn. Models’ street style is also very inspiring but I guess my inspiration pretty much comes from everything; art, architecture, music, books, or even a person’s behaviour. I don’t really know how to describe my style but I could consider it as a mix of different pieces thrown together to create something that makes it individual. I really like the whole grunge, edgy look with black elements thing going on, it’s very inspiring.
Why did you start fashion blogging:
I actually started off my blog initially just to remember distinct past events in lif but I guess it eventually evolved into a platform where I could share my inspirations, muses and style with people around the world. It’s really nice to see that people appreciate my photos and style and give honest feedback.
Tell us a bit about your modeling career and your ultimate aspirations:
Oh I wish I had a modelling career, that would be so awesome. I’ve had dreams of becoming a fashion designer for a while now but I’d really like to become a fashion editor and intern or hopefully, work for Vogue someday. Any career along the lines of fashion would be more than perfect – stylist, fashion designer, editor, etc.
Who is your favorite fashion blogger and why?
This is such difficult question, it’s like asking me which Valentino gown I like best (and I love all of them!). Just to name a few, my all-time favorite fashion bloggers would be Rumi Neely of fashiontoast, Bryanboy, and Alice of Alice Point. There also a lot of other inspiring fashion bloggers that I’d love to mention but I could write a whole book on that.
What are your plans for 2011?
It’s going to be the craziest and busiest year for me because it’s my last year of high-school and to top it off, there’s the final end-of-year exams as well. I’m just going to give it my best shot! I’m also really anticipating lots of events, especially the School Ball in April, but I’d really love to travel lots in 2011, haha. Preferably the states or Korea? Also, my new house will finally be completed in January ’11 so hello new wardrobe, ho exciting!
Who is the designer to watch in 2011?
Definitely, Sarah Burton of Alexander McQueen. McQueen has always been one of my favorites and the latest collection designed by Sarah Burton didn’t disappoint and even pays a fitting tribute to his incredible legacy. I’d love to see more of what she can do.
