NYC, VIV: The Paisley Trend 2012

Groooovy Baby! A trend for all you hipsters… Although this print receives it’s name from the town of Paisley, Scotland it’s actually of Iranian origins and a favorite used in Persian fabrics. Fashion wise it was the hype of the psychedelic sixties with it’s popularity carrying it well into the seventies. For this season it once again reigns supreme as hottest print on the runway. And I imagine it will be quite the rage during the fall season as well because everyone loves a great fall paisley print. Fashionista’s are being inspired to work with this versatile prints in all types of ways whether it’s on clothing, accessories or even home decor, everyone has gone bananas for this iconic and ever so eclectic print.

Some of the more exotic and fun paisley prints that caught my eye

For my own personal taste, the paisley style choice I gravitate towards are either in very exotic prints with rich jewel tone colors, soft creamy pastels and vivid brights. Anything that is too dark, boring or does not showcase the paisley print are ones that I avoid. For example, tonal brown on brown, it’s rather dull and looks too outdated, like the prints your old school teacher used to wear. Other than the colors of my choice and depending on my mood, I also prefer my prints to have either delicate dainty swirls with a splash of floral vines trellising along the pattern or large bold stamped designs. I don’t mind the types of fabric as long as it’s light and not a fuss to wear, cotton always works best but nothing beats a silky paisley blouse that looks just gorgeous when paired with your fave slack or skirt. My only word of caution, try not to overload on this trend from head to toe. Who is in love with paisley? Which type of patterns do you love the most? Stay beautiful! XOXO
